GENERAL GUIDELINES

The $30 fee per session and is due by November 21st

Shin guards are required.

 

Four players and a goalie are on the floor at a time for each team. "Flying substitution" (all players can enter and leave as they please) is in effect. It is a recreational league so equal playing time will be enforced.

 

Each game will be two 20 minute halves. Ties will remain ties. (Play-off schedule will include tie-breaking procedures for play-offs) In first game of the night, both teams are responsible for setting up nets. In last game of the night, one team is responsible for putting away nets and the other ensuring the change rooms are clean.

 

Please help the school custodians and ensure all garbage and recycling is put in the appropriate containers. Please ensure outdoor footwear is taken off at the doors to avoid dirt and water in the halls and in the gymnasium as we don’t want to lose gym privileges.

 

Players in the league will be refereeing the games so please have patience and help them out.ZERO TOLERANCE will be in effect towards violent behaviour and inappropriate behaviour towards officials and players. The league is being formed with an emphasize on sportsmanship and skill development in a fun environment. Please keep this in mind at all times.

FUTSAL - RULES OF THE GAME

All futsal rules are the same as soccer with the following exceptions:

The playing court is the basketball lines with the penalty area/crease being the basketball 3-point line.

Ball out of play: When it has wholly crossed the goal line or touchline; when the game has been stopped by a referee; when the ball hits the ceiling (restart: kick-in from the closest touchline by other team).

Kick-in: In place of the throw-in, the ball is placed on the touch line before kicking and must be taken within 4 seconds. The ball must be still on a kick-in.  The kicker's foot not kicking the ball must be outside or at least on the touchline; if it crosses the touchline all of the way, into the pitch, the kick-in is given to the opposing team.   Cannot score directly from a kick-in.

Goal Clearance: In place of goal kick, from anywhere inside the penalty area, the goalkeeper throws the ball into play within 4 seconds.  The ball is not in play until it has passed outside of the penalty area.  If the goal clearance is received inside of the penalty area, the goal clearance shall be taken over.  Player cannot then pass directly back to goalkeeper, must be passed to another teammate first.

Corner Kick:  Ball placed on the corner (no corner-kick arc) and must be played within 4 seconds. Can score goal directly from a corner kick.

Free Kick: Kick must be taken within 4 seconds once ball is on the ground.  Players must always be 3 metres (3 large steps) away on any kick-in, free kick or corner kick.

Penalty Kick:  To be taken from the penalty mark on the mid-point of the 3-point line.  All players must be out of the penalty area.

Fouls:  No sliding at any time!All fouls will result in direct kicks with the following exceptions being indirect kicks:

1. obstruction
2. goalkeeper picks up or touches with his hands from a teammate
3. ball is passed directly back to the goalkeeper on a goal clearance.Once a team has accumulated 5 fouls during a half, after the 6th foul:

  • That team shall not be allowed a defensive wall
  • All free kicks shall be direct (no indirect free kicks)
  • Fouls inside of offensive half will result with a direct free kick from the point of the foul-
  • Fouls from defensive half will result in a free kick from centre.
    -All players other than the goalkeeper and kicker shall remain behind the kicker.
    -The kicker must aim at the goal, with the intention of scoring.
    -No other player may touch the ball until it has been touched by the goalie, rebounded from
    the goal post or crossbar, or has left the pitch.
